Do you remember Christmas when you were a child? The atmosphere of happiness and anticipation of magic? Christmas music everywhere, the smell of Christmas trees, sparkling snow on the ground, sparkling lights in the windows, hot chocolate and candy canes. The air was imbued with holiday spirit.

So, why is everything so different now?

We buy a tree and decorate it with our loved ones, we shop for presents and make hot chocolate but instead of happiness and joy we often feel tired, stressed and overwhelmed.

It's because when we were children, our parents made magic happen. The Christmas spirit was never just given, it was hours of work, a lot of consideration and Love put into it by someone who loved us.

I am sure now, many of you make the same effort for people you love and cherish. It's pleasant to make people happy but it's still a lot of work after all. What would be the solution?

The Christmas Magic Recipe

I have a little "recipe" for you to get back that Christmas magic. Amongst all the adult holiday tasks such as buying presents, organizing dinners, making cards for everyone, choose the time to spend with your Inner Child. Become your own perfect parent for a day and give yourself some slack. It's not easy to slow down and relax and sometimes it's even harder to do during the holiday rush, so schedule some downtime and fun time.

Another "ingredient" in that "recipe" is to remember to do what you like, buy yourself a gift, and say No to overplanning. We often want to make others happy so badly that we forget about ourselves. Remind yourself that you are also worthy of Happy Holidays.

And the last "ingredient" is allowing yourself connection instead of perfection - connection to yourself and to people who are important to you. Often a small thoughtful gift is more precious than expensive but useless, evening at home with a friend and a favorite movie is more fulfilling than a big party with a bunch of strangers.

How to Apply the Recipe

Make Holidays YOUR Holidays, listen to yourself and create new rules. Modify the "recipe" until it works for YOU, and continue to make changes as you go.

We are working over the Holidays and always here to support you if you are experiencing too much pressure, dwelling on the past or anxious about the future.
